Comment Thread
This week I replied to Bella's comment on my "metaphors".
I really like how she gave me a compliment on how well written my blog post was.
My question back for her was "do you have a good connection with figurative language".

Metaphors | Figurative Language
A metaphor is a word or phrase that is used to make a comparison between two things by saying one thing is the other. Metaphors are a kind of figurative language.
An example is "Ben's temper was a volcano, ready to explode". The main object is Ben's temper. Ben's temper is compared to a volcano, which erupt suddenly. The meaning of this metaphor is that Ben gets angry suddenly.
People can describe things by using metaphors like: the weather, flavours & other things.

Multiplication | Eight Times Tables
Multiplication is a fast way of adding the same number over again. For example: 8x8x8x8x8x8 means 6x8=48
The slides below show the eight times tables.

WIP | T Chart | Reciprocal
This week we read two articles to find the pros and cons by using T-charts and the reciprocal reading skill.
First my group and I choose a text to read about. We read and summarized the information to get a basic idea of what container was best to use.
After reading texts we scanned through the blurbs to find the pros and cons. We used the images to find the cons. We then figured out what the purpose of why that container is a con.
Then we repeated the same process for the next two texts.
This is a work in progress that will be finished next week.

Multiplication | Word Problems
We were learning how to identify word problems. We also learnt about group sizes and numbers of groups which is multiplication.
The problems were:
Tara had 2 emails. Then 8 more came in inbox. How many emails does Tara have now?
Melanie worked 3 hours for 5 days. How many hours did she work in total?
Jack has 8 games. Alex has 5 fewer than Jack. How many games does Alex have?
We had to figure out which one was multiplication. The problem that is highlighted is a multiplication problem because the group size is 3 and the number of groups is 5 which means 5x3=15.
