Art | Tongan Ngatu | At School

On Wednesday we created a piece of art named Tongan Ngatu, we created it by looking at designs on a piece of paper. Tongan ngatu is a traditional art over in tongan. We had to create 4 designs and choose 2 design to draw on a small bit of paper. I choose a type of flower and a type star thing.

Complex Sentences | Writing

This week for Writing we were learning about complex sentences. 

A Complex sentence is one full simple sentence with a complete idea and another sentence with incomplete idea. They are joined by a conjunction. 

We had to complete a google slides which showed us the complete sentences. 

The structure of complex sentences is AAAWWUBBIS. (Look this up so you can find out what the lettets  stand for).

Kiwi Can | Role models

This week for kiwi can we learnt about role models and who our role models were. I choose my parents because they took care of me and the siblings and they help other people. A role model is someone or something you look up too.


Our energizer was "Hammer", we played this game like this, we had a partner than we had to scrunch our hands like a ball and repeat that until you have finished. Make sure your partner does the same.


Our activity was "Knots & Crosses", we played is game on the ground with cones. Boys and girls had to do rock paper scissors shoot to see who went first. First one to get three in a row won. We had to stand by a cone and try get three if no one win there is n points for anyone.

Tessellation

This week we started to create a tessellation design using shapes. When you do this activity make sure you shapes are inline and you are repeating that shape not another shape. Also make sure that you make a border and make sure your shape are overlapping the border.


Visualising

Visualising is drawing an image map,mind map,or infographic about text that is difficult to understand.

To visualise a difficult sentence, break it up it parts and then draw each part. If there are any words that are unknown they should be looked up in the dictionary.Children's dictionaries are best suited for young learners.

Visualising is a good way to easily understand difficult texts.

This week for basic fact boxes I did up to 5 I did subtraction and addition. I took me 9 mins and 17 seconds.  Next time I am going to my 10's.




Commenting Thread

L.I - To learn how to reply to comments

This year we have to try and get a conversation going when we are commenting on people, we have to include a question that the person you are commenting on can reply. The person you comment on has to reply with a question but not the same question you asked them. I commented on Carson blog and he reply. 





Kiwi Can

This week for Kiwi Can we learnt was listening to others,parents and teachers.


We played "bop the cone" to practise listening for instructions. 



We also played "kiwi can whispers" to practise listening and hearing information.



I thought "kiwi can whispers" was a good way to practise listening skill to learn.


Rippa Rugby

L.I - To learn the basic skills rippa rugby

This week for Kiwi Sport we played our 3rd session of rippa. We had different coaches named MJ and Glori. We played catching and passing the ball for our warm up. After we finished that warm up we went on to rippa tag, how we played this game is we have to run in the the middle and try not to get ripped or we could run pass the cone in he outside. After this activity we played a real game of rippa. The teams were black and red. It was a close game because the black team nearly scored a try but the red team got 7 tries.




Skimming & Scanning

L.I - To learn how to skim and scan.

This week for reading we did an activity called Skimming and Scanning. For this activity we had to the skim and scan a book named The New New New Zealanders. After we finished summary the book we had to create a google drawing and write the question then the answers.

SSR Selfie

This week for SSR Selfie I read a book named Diary Of The Wimpy Kid. This book was about Greg planning on staying home all day to play video games but his mum told them all that they are going on a road trip. The rest of the information is a my SSR Selfie Photo.




Adding On In 10's | Maths

Think week for Maths we had to create a think board and we had to write a story problem. We also had to draw a diagram or a number line. I had to figure out what was 38 + 50. How I  solved this problem by counting in 10 so I did 48 58 68, 78, 88. My answer is 88.




Early NZ Explorers

Kupe and Cook are two important explorers in New Zealand's history


Kupe arrived in NZ in the 1100's. He travelled by traditional methods on a traditional sailboat. He followed a giant Octopus. He did this voyage to find new land for this people to live. His wife named NZ Aotearoa after seeing mountains under the clouds.



Captain Cook found Aotearoa on the 6th of October 1769 . Captain Cook was sent by the royal navy. to map New Zealand.He travelled by his ship named Bark Endeavour. He got to the distance by following the birds.



Kupe is important because he was the first documented person in NZ. Cook is important because he mapped NZ and opened it up to the world to access.

Rippa Rugby

Yesterday was our second session of rippa rugby. Year 4,5,6 went across the road to marist but we went closer to the club because other schools were playing softball.

First we playing the activity catching and passing the ball to others. 

After this activity we had played a game in a square where you have to try and ripe the peoples tags and if you rip both of the tag then they are out or if they or some else ripes you twice then that makes you out. We playing 2 games of this game.


Finally we playing a real game of rippa. The teams were green and red. The winning team was both of us. The points were 1-1. The green team would of won but of player went out with the ball.

L.I - To learn how to solve problem using math sources

This week for Maths I completed my think board. This think board is a maths resource which has diagrams to drawing,equations to solve and we also have to show how we solved 75 + 4, lastly we had to write a problem. The topic was counting on.



Keywords

Keywords are words that help to research specific information about a chosen topic. They can also give appropriate information to young learners. 

Keywords can be used to find information that is understandable and readable by children.

Keywords are for narrowing down the information gained by an internet search.

Keywords are useful tools that should be used in every search.

Explorers & Adventurers

Explorers & Adventurers are people who travel and discover new things.

Explorers are people who travel to find new things and record them for the country such as Sir Edmund Hillary,Captain James Cook,
David Livingstone & Sir Peter Blake.

Adventurers are people who travel to take or show something for themselves such as Amelia Earhart,Jane Goodall,Zheng He & Maona.

Explorers & Adventurers need to have or show many different attitudes and attribute such as confident because It's important to be confident so you can understand what's wrong and what's right and risk taker because it is good to be a risk taker because you can stand up to a bully or try new things like climbing Mount Everest.

Both explorers and adventurers  travel to new places and need similar qualities  although their goals are different.

Illegal & Legal Images

A legal image is something that can be used with permission by the law.

 Image creators give legal permission to use their images by adding shared license.

It's important to use legal images to help creators, and so users don't get into trouble. 

One way of finding legal images is making sure that image users are taking is free or is isn't copyrighted.
